IN MY DREAMS, THIS IS WHERE I LIVE

Welcome to the house of my dreams. After perusing Apartment Therapy and coming across this Eichler home I had to share it (once I wiped the drool off my face and keyboard of course). It's so gorgeous and is EXACTLY my style. I love the way they've combined a mid century modern flare with a clean, contemporary and bright style. C'est magnifique!! What else can I say except "when can I move in?!"

I COVET THEE

Thanks to my friend Melissa (who also has her own lovely blog here) I am now thoroughly in love with a new online magazine called covet garden. The magazine is created right here in Toronto and each issue is based upon a true to life home and its family or person. The homes that are featured for each issue are so interesting, warm and lovely and I like that they're not propped and overly styled. They actually say it best on the website:

Covet Garden takes a peek into the homes and lives of some of the city’s most interesting people—spaces that have not been styled by interior decorators and that above all else reflect the passions and interests of those who live there.

They also offer up some great tutorials, like the one from this month's issue where they delve into the simplicity of building and caring for a terrarium (something that intrigues me and my black thumb!).

I also adore the design of the magazine itself with its great fonts, great photos and great facts. What more could I ask for?! Check it out for yourself right here.

VOLUME 25

It's Monday. I trust that everyone had a spooky Halloween weekend.

Today in my quest for inspiration I stumbled across a printmaker on Etsy. The shop is called Volume 25 and there are a plethora of adorable prints to choose from. I love the phrases she has used...especially those seen below. I hope that they speak to you as well.

FRIDAY DANCE PARTY

Who remembers the MmmmBop days? I certainly do! And I have no problems admitting my long lost love for the Hanson brothers. Ok...so it's not so long lost...I still love them. I especially love their new single. For those of you rolling your eyes, you outta have a listen.

And Mellers, it looks like we have another song we can sing out at the top of our lungs...if only you still had that Lebaron convertible!

THE BEAUTY OF BLUE

I have a confession to make. I'm feeling blue today...and I like it.

Do you ever have those days? Those days when you just feel sad...and that's EXACTLY how you WANT to feel? For those of you who know me, I have reason to feel this way however the difference between a day like today and a day like yesterday is that I am making the choice to wallow. I've found myself thinking throughout the day "you don't need to feel sad", "suck it up...stop listening to depressing music and just be happy already". But truth be told, today is a day when I want to feel the blues. I'm perfectly fine with just staring at my computer in my cubicle, putting my headphones in, listening to sad and depression-inducing music and all-in-all feeling sorry for myself.

I think we all need days like my day today. We need to soak in the sadness. And then we get over it and get happy again...but not until tomorrow.

SWOONWORTHY

Hi guys,

Sorry I've been a little MIA recently. My posts seem to be getting few and far between. I will try to do better....PROMISE!

Today I wanted to share with you a designer/typographer/illustrator that I am fully SWOONING over right now. Her name is Jessica Hische and if you haven't heard of her than prepare to be amazed. She does absolutely breathtaking work with type and I'm trés jealous of her talents and portfolio. With that said she is really inspiring me and reminding me of how much I love working with typography. It makes me want to pull out my sketchbook right now and start doodling typefaces, which is a pretty great feat for me considering I haven't actually DRAWN for what seems like an eternity. It's almost like I've developed this pathological fear of drawing. As a graphic designer this is definitely a problem that I should probably have checked out.

COUNTRY STYLE PT. I

I wanted to share with you some photos from a recent "romantic" trip I took to Prince Edward County with my friend Melissa. We had a fantastic time enjoying the beautiful fall colours, tasting some Ontario VQA wines, and perusing some of the interesting antique shops in the county. It was great to have some time away from the hustle and bustle of the city and it was great to give my camera a bit of a workout. Something that I don't do nearly enough of.

DISCOVER WHY...

It's FRIDAY!!! There are not enough exclamation marks in the world that could properly express my thankfulness for this Thanksgiving Friday.

Today I wanted to give you a sneak peak into a project that I had the pleasure of working on this year with my incredibly talented aunt, Jane Lawson of Walker Lawson Interior Design Inc.

I'd like to share with you the pictures of a daycare space that was developed by my lovely Auntie Jane along with her team of talented designers. The project was for a company in Calgary called Newalta. Newalta specializes in waste management but describe it much better than that on their site...and I quote:

Newalta provides cost-effective solutions to industrial customers to improve their environmental performance with a focus on recycling and recovery of products from industrial residues.

Newalta does a great job at also providing their employees with amazing workspaces.

This brings me back to the daycare that I mentioned above. As a part of the Newalta Calgary corporate office (which is AMAZING!), they have incorporated a daycare for their employee's children. I had the great fortune of working alongside my aunt in the development of the logo for the daycare. I'm afraid you will have to wait to see what I came up with until another blog entry, but for now please take a look at these pictures of the ARIDO award winning interior space that Walker Lawson designed.

SATURNA ISLAND aka THE GREATEST PLACE EVER!!
