Good morning!
Today is Friday. I love Friday. I love the prospect of a whole two days to do whatever I please. On Friday we are all just on the cusp of the weekend and waiting in anticipation of 5pm when we are FREE from the constraints of the work week. Don't get me wrong, Saturday and Sunday are both fantastic days too. To me Friday is sort of like buying a lottery ticket. You purchase that ticket and then imagine all of the possibilities that would be available to you if you won.
Enough random babble...now for some prettiness!
Without further ado, I present to you my friend Alison...well, more specifically I present to you Alison's creations. Alison is the craftsperson behind Grace Design and creates some beautiful purses, pillows and other goodness using vintage obi fabric that she has collected from Japan. You can order these beauts through Alison's Supermarket page here. You may also find Alison manning her Grace Design booth at various craft sales throughout Toronto (including the ever popular One of a Kind Christmas Show and Sale happening November 25 - December 5, 2010).
I can't wait to see what Alison creates next. I was lucky enough to get a bit of a sneak peak at some new elements that will be added to her collection and I can't wait to reveal them in the near future.
Until next time, take care and soak in some sunshine!

Morning Dance Party Round 2
Good morning!
This is one of those songs that are great to listen to in the car - windows down, volume up and singing at the top of your lungs. Love it. Charlie Winston can put his tunes in my hands any day. Shake it people!

It's my birthday hug!
Hi everyone!
Firstly, I must apologize for my absence. I have not been taking care of my blogging duties and I'm sure you all have been anxiously awaiting a new posting (oh, if only!). Anywho, as many of you are aware I celebrated my 26th birthday last week. My lovely work peeps gave me one of the most chuckle-inducing/cutest cards I've ever received. I had to share it with you. The image just puts a big ol' smile on my huge head/face. Thanks Friends for making my day!

sunshine on a pretty cloudy day
Ok, so I'm terribly sorry that I have been so MIA this week. It's been a hectic one. Today's posting was an obvious one for me because after a busy morning complete with a parking ticket (ugghhhh..) this video completely picked me up and made my day. This girl is absolutely adorable and I think we all could learn a little something from her. Thanks goes out to my friend Melissa D for sharing because she totally made my day with this.
Happy Friday everyone!

United Dimensions
Hello all,
So I'm trying to sneak in this post before heading out for the night to see the OCAD Grad Show (Yea Grads!! uggghhh...I remember those days like they were yesterday.)
The shots I'm about to show you I find absolutely stunning and am just looking for an opportunity to utilize this technique for something. This first piece was created by Kari Herer. I remember spotting this image on Design*Sponge for the first time back in February and gasping at the beauty (dramatic yes..but true nonetheless!). I absolutely love the unity that is brought between the 2-dimensional sketch in the background and the gorgeous 3-dimensional flower in the foreground.
Take it all in...

Today I was flipping through the May 2010 issue of Real Simple Magazine and stumbled across some images by José Picayo and Jeffrey W. Miller. They reminded me of Keri's work and again left me agast. I just can't get enough of this mix of dimensions. I'm not even a flowery type of chick but it makes me want to start a collection of this type of work!! Again, absolutely stunning.

Beautiful work people!! Keep it coming.
And for those of you who are struggling to find the right birthday gift for yours truly, feel free to check out Kari's etsy shop (hint hint).

Upholstery 101
I wanted to share with you a rather ambitious project that I have committed myself to. For the last few months I have been working on reupholstering a chair that I inherited from some housemates a few years ago. The chair had definitely seen better days but the fabric was dull and stained, the springs would say "hello" to your rear whenever you sat down and god only knows what secrets were hiding within (..eewwwwww).
I so wish that I had a before picture to show you but unfortunately it's gone. I had taken this before shot with the camera on my phone and when I recently purchased my snazzy new iPhone I decided to do the 'eco-conscious' thing and recycle my old phone...however evidently I also recycled my pictures along with it. You'll have to use your imagination when you look at this photo to picture the ugliness in your head.

So, this is the chair as of last night. As you can see, I'm moving right along with the rebuilding process...and while it doesn't look like much, let me tell you that a lot of work has gone into getting even this far. First I had to strip it down (honestly, it was gross, took about 3 or 4 classes and gave me the heeby geebies...I shudder at those memories). Second step was tying the springs. Third step was webbing and burlapping the seat. Fourth step was building up the seat with unideck and batting and then applying the cotton fabric over top. Last night I started working on the arms. I'm actually really enjoying the process now.
One of the most enjoyable and entertaining things about this class is the instructor. She is dutch, elderly and quite the tough cookie. On more than one occasion she has seen me struggling with something, has come over and said "Vhat are you doing? Let me help you.." and she'll just throw her brute strength into it and totally put me to shame. It's amazing and I hope to be as feisty as she is.

Morning Dance Party
I'm absolutely loving this song. I heard of it on the CBC Radio 2 morning show with Bob Mackowycz which is where I find a lot of great music. I also highly recommend Radio 2 Drive with Rich Terfry...great music, great host and great interviews. Anyways, enough chit chat...let's dance!

Dream Job
Hello hello. Fancy meeting you here.
Let me first welcome you to 'a dash of goodness'. I've been meaning to start something like this for quite some time but had been....for lack of a better excuse...lazy. I will be posting things that I find inspiring, beautiful, funny and just all around entertaining. I hope that this can be a space where you can come to relax, smile and maybe even laugh a bit. Everyone needs a little sunshine in their lives (some days more than others) and I hope that this can be a touch of cyber-sunshine. Anyways, without further ado I commence this blog with my first dash of goodness...
And no surprise, it involves puppies!!! Golden puppies at that.
(Photographer: Anna Wolf)
People, I introduce you to Sharon Montrose. She's an animal photographer who works out of LA and I am totally idolizing her right now. If only my photography skills were better. I came across this when perusing one of my favorite blogs A Cup of Joe. You can read more about this lovely lady here.
Can you imagine being surrounded by puppies all day long?? Amazing. I bet her life is just FULL of goodness and sunshine.
Well, that's all for now but tomorrow I hope to give you a sneak peak at my latest project involving wood, fabric and a TANK of a woman who goes by the name Evelyn.
